Starkville Utilities Offers Free Workshops to Help Customers Save

Expert guidance and free energy-saving tools can make homes more efficient

Keeping a home comfortable does not have to mean watching your utility bill climb. That’s why Starkville Utilities is offering free EnergyRight workshops this month to give customers practical ways to use energy more efficiently and reduce the cost of heating their homes this winter.

During the one-hour workshops, an EnergyRight expert will review energy-saving practices and products that can save money, such as weatherstripping, insulation, HVAC maintenance and lighting management. Attendees also will receive free energy starter kits valued at $40.

In addition to providing energy-saving tips, Starkville Utilities will give an overview of its customer portal, SmartHub. Workshop participants will learn how to enroll in SmartHub and use this powerful tool to manage their usage, review past bills and set up usage alerts.

“Energy efficiency does not have to be complicated or expensive,” said Starkville Utilities General Manager Edward Kemp. “These workshops give customers information they can use to make their homes more comfortable while being more mindful of how they use energy.”

Customers are urged to choose the workshop that works best for their schedule.

EnergyRight workshops are free and open to Starkville Utilities customers. No previous knowledge or special equipment is required.

“Customers do not have to take on a major project to start saving energy,” Kemp said. “Sometimes small changes can make a meaningful difference. We want customers to leave these workshops with information they can actually use.”
